The Bliss Concept

The Bliss concept began with a desire to serve traditional Asian food with dramatic modern flair - originating in my stong opinions about food, and how it should be prepared and presented. My journey began with creating Japanese food served at Deep Cove Osaka Sushi, our successful first restaurant. I began to turn towards my Korean roots and dream of a new restaurant that would feature delicious Korean fare as well as Japanese. My goal was to create new dishes that would delight the North American palate, yet maintain the true nature of traditional Korean and Japanese food culture. Living in Vancouver further challenged me to make the dishes healthy as well.

Our History

This journey led me to learn the deeper art of Japanese cooking from a brilliant chef named Yoshi, then the art of Korean cooking, not from chefs, but from the Korean mothers and grandmothers that I find infinitely more skilled. I proceeded to establish the healthy aspects of our menu - removing all sugar from the recipes and experimenting with a wide variety of organic foods. I used honey, vegetables, and fruit to sweeten the dishes, and chose organic ingredients that actually serve to cleanse the body. It struck me that the true nature of "bliss" is to enjoy great food without comprimising your health. The final step was to find the perfect venue for our concept, and could think of none better than Coal Harbour - the most beautiful (and most expensive!) area in Vancouver. The combination of incredible food and unique ambience has given us a restaurant we're very proud to call Bliss!
